It is as described at posts 2 and 3, a cam slot, it is there so that you can use a cam to take a card to receive paid for channels on Freeview, originally Top Up TV and more recently Setanta, it has nothing to do with Wifi. It is a similar type of cam slot that is used on a laptop, but that is where the similarity ends.
